Any parent of a teenage girl will see their daughter in Cassie, and as an adult and a mother, I felt protective of her. This emotional connection would not be possible without the skill of deep character development. I also found that the number of men, in past lives and in her current timeline, all seem to think that they have a claim to Cassie. If this is not a symbol of toxic masculinity, then none exists. Cassie is the contemporary evolution of powerful women incarnated in her from alternative timelines, and these are a wonderful complement to an already strong story. |

Nagy, as well as the first in her trilogy, The Trybrid Chronicles. It's an intriguing dive into a world of fantasy, eternal love, and spirituality. As someone who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, where much of the novel takes place, I also enjoyed seeing this very traditional southern city transformed into the setting for the adventure launched in "Phoenix Rising: Initiation." It's a fascinating premise and has me now wondering how soon we can jump into the next book in the trilogy. |

I just loved this first offering from new author, Rebecca Nagy. The first book of a trilogy, this journey of a very likable protagonist and her cadre of advanced beings does not disappoint. Ms. Nagy's writing style is effortless and compelling and I found it hard to put the book down although, I found myself stretching out the reading of it to make it last since the 2nd book in the trilogy is not out yet! Ms. Nagy takes you on a wonderful journey and she has the ability to make the reader feel like they are sharing each experience every character experiences. As a fellow metaphysician, I can promise you, the spiritual components of this book are quite accurate, too. This would be the perfect book to take on vacay so you can relax immerse yourself in the magic!
